In the original article NY Daily News reported on multiple new players, and their performance this far. Fantasy baseball players such as those on www.fantasyalarm.com/mlb know having a solid MLB lineup is important, and many have been curious on whether to keep some of the new players as starters. In the article some of players mentioned are Luis Perdomo, Ben Gamel, and Rhys Hoskins. All very talented players, that have shown a lot of promise.

Luis Perdomo

Perdomo has had a solid start the last three games he’s played. He has been able to bring down his ERA from 9 to 4.2, his strikeout rates are also higher than expected but Perdomo has yet to get a win.

Ben Gamel

Batting .373 Gamel has been helping his team tolerate the loss of the injured Mitch Haniger. In his three seasons as a minor league yankee Gamel stole 45 bases, he also showcased his ability to get double digit homers. Fans of Ben Gamel should be sure to keep an eye on him.

Rhys Hoskins

Hoskins has been certainly one to keep an eye on. Scoring almost 40 homeruns last season, Hoskins has been able to reduce his strikeout rate and become a valuable asset to his team. Picking Rhys Hoskins up for your team may be a wise choice.

No More Deaths and Its Association to the Lacey & Larkin Frontera Fund

No More Deaths is an activist group located in Tucson and Phoenix, Arizona which focuses on ending human suffering through the provision of humanitarian aid to migrants crossing the desert bordering the United States and Mexico. The volunteers of the program allocate water, food, and medical supplies to the migrants and also aid those that have been deported from the U.S.

The group was established in 2004 by Catholic Bishop Gerald, Kicanas, Presbyterian minister John Fife and other Jewish leaders. During the years 2000-2005, the Pima County Medical Examiner’s Office recovered approximately 160 bodies annually, a number that had increased from 14 per year in the 1990s. This prompted the founders to do something to end those deaths, and No More Deaths was created. Learn more about Jim Larkin and Michael Lacey: http://www.linkedin.com/in/jim-larkin-8a2a4213a

The advocacy group has carried out several projects since its founding to aid the different forms of suffering triggered by recent policies towards immigration and border control. Firstly, the program has an all year round humanitarian presence in the south-western Arizona desert. The volunteers follow the trails leaving the water, food, medical aids, blankets, and socks.

Secondly, No More Deaths offers phone calls and first aid assistance in the Northern Sonora to those deported and northbound refugees. They also offer an informal cheque cashing for those deported with uncashable prison check. Thirdly, the volunteers of the program broadcast abuse, mistreatment, and neglect that the detainees undergo through during their border patrol confinement. In total, the organization has published three reports including A Culture of Cruelty (2011), Crossing the Line (2008), and Shakedown (2014).

No more Deaths also help imprisoned refugees and their families to recover personal belongings from the US Border Patrol that would otherwise be lost. In collaboration with the Missing Migrant Project of La Coalicion de Derechos Humanos, the volunteers respond to emergency calls and arrange for search groups in events when the Border Patrol local enforcement fails to respond.

About Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund

The Lacey and Frontera Fund is a charitable foundation that advocates for civil, human and migrants rights in Arizona. It was founded by Mike Lacey and Jim Larkin after they encountered a violation of their human rights.

On the night of October 18, 2007, Micheal Lacey and Jim Larkin were arrested by Joe Arpaio, one of the most ruthless sheriffs in the United States. Arpaio has been associated with many human rights defilements, racial profiling and power abuse which include unlawful incarceration of Latinos, abuse, and murders of inmates, and vengeful abuse of power on his critics like in Lacey and Larkin’s scenario.

One time he was featured on Phoenix New Times which is owned by Lacey and Larkin, and it documented his power abuse where he used his connections to the Maricopa’s County AG office to summon writers, editors, and readers of the newspaper.

This was the incident that prompted Arpaio to apprehend the duo; however, after a public intervention, the two were released, and all charges were dismissed. After a successful litigation for infringement of their First Amendment Rights, Lacey and Larkin were accorded a settlement of $ 3.7 million. The Frontera Fund resulted from the settlement money and has since funded so many other similar organizations.

On the Frontlines of Civil Rights Advocacy, The NNIRR Group and Journalists Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin

The National Network for Immigrant and Refugee Rights (NNIRR) is one of the organizations at the forefront of championing the rights of refugees and immigrants with special focus on individual rights and justice. This includes access to health care and the opportunity to live safe and peaceful lives. According to NNIRR.org, the organization is fully devoted to defending and expanding the rights of refugees and immigrant communities in the US irrespective of their status.

Established in 1986, the organization has a diverse membership, which includes immigrant communities and partners committed to social and economic justice.

Over the years, NNIRR has also been active on the front lines of promoting international advocacy and organizing. This is evident in its push for the formation of the Migrants Rights International (MRI) some 20 years ago, among other civil rights focused initiatives.

Today, NNIRR works closely with several civil rights organizations such as the multi-sector alliance called the Global Coalition on Migration (GCM) and Women in Migration Network (WMN). The latter is focused on promoting gender analyses and global migration positions.

As part of its global initiative to champion human rights, justice and empowerment of global immigrants, the NNIRR continuously sponsors delegations of US refugee and immigrant representatives to attend various global events.

The events include the UN Conference Against Racism and Xenophobia roundtables and the World Trade Organization (WTO) ministerial marches. Joining the fray are two of the most vocal advocates for refugees and immigrant causes in the US today, journalists Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin. Through the Larkin & Lacey Frontera Fund, the civil rights advocates have been fighting for the rights of legally under-served communities in and out of the corridors of justice.

About Larkin & Lacey Frontera Fund

Larkin Lacey and Jim Larkin established the Larkin & Lacey Frontera Fund to support groups that advocate for human, migrant and civil rights along with freedom of speech and right to civil participation throughout Arizona, including the Mexican border area. Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority

Mike Heiligenstein, executive director of the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority recently argued that Austin has an enormous problem with traffic. He argued that something must be done to fix it. Otherwise, it could adversely affect the area monetarily and socially. Austin is a big draw for tourists and new residents alike.

Finding a tech solution must be a priority of the city. Toll roads were created to solve the problem some years ago and new solutions must be found to help further enhance the efficiency of the road system in Austin. The Mobility Authority is the solution. According to Biz Journals, Mike Heiligenstein, as the head of that team, believes that the solution is attainable.

Heiligenstein is a graduate of the University of Texas, where he studied business administration and government. His passion has always been city government and maintenance of the system to best serve the people of Austin. His passion has come to a point of success with the addition of this latest venture. His pioneering the path can help Austin even more going forward.

This new system of technology can help traffic flow far better than the previous tollway system. Removing the people is not possible, nor is it a desirable outcome for the future. Instead, handling the traffic efficiently through this proposed technology by Mike Heiligenstein will make the situation better for all in the area.

An Express Lane will allow those in a hurt to pay the price to have faster access and get where they need to be more efficient. Until the technology comes along that can detect cars, this is a great solution for the future in Austin roadways. The app even encourages people to use alternate ways to commute in Austin. This can encourage the use of alternate methods of transportation and help further solve the issue of over-population.

The new system has an app that is used to help solve the issue. The team that designed the system partnered with Metropia to create the mobile app that’s connected to the monitoring system currently in place to encourage commuters to share the road with carpools. That alone could help immensely. Less cars means less congestion, breakdowns and other aspects creating congestion.

Partnering with the Texas Department of Transportation has helped the solution come to fruition. No matter what happens in the future with the roads in Austin, Texas is leading the path to integration of technology and city design.

The Lung Institute is Changing Lives of Patients Everywhere

Lung stem cell treatment is a technology that is helping medicine change the way the United States handles the procedures for lung treatments. The Lung Institute physician Jack Coleman, Junior MD, presented at the third International Congress on stem cell research back in 2016. The research is offering new treatments for patients with lung problems. Dr. Coleman stated, in that presentation the way that patient care can be improved through this procedure. This does not come without any issues however. Here are what those issues (https://lunginstitute.com/lung-diseases/copd/) are.

One of the issues that has come up is from the Catholic Church. This problem however has been resolved by the way the doctor came to present the information by saying that it was the responsible way to give the very best patient treatment to help their pain and suffering and to also improve their quality of life. This is so true, and was well accepted eventually by the governing body of the Roman Catholic Church. This procedure having now been widely accepted, should be able to go forward in modern medicine to change people’s lives for the better.

The other issue is the ability to accomplish this feat. The cost is substantial and is only as effective as the ability to access this valuable resource in treatment. Cedars Sinai is working to help resolve this issue, so that the treatment is widely available to all. It takes a team to make this a reality, but with that teamwork, this life-changing procedure can save lives and improve the quality of life for patients receiving this treatment.

Soon, everybody will be able to access this modern miracle of medicine to enable people with lung problems to have a better quality of life, and to have a longer life as well. Health services everywhere are getting the valuable information about this life-changing treatment for lung patients.

A Man of Technological Innovation, Rick Smith CEO of Securus Technologies

Richard A. Smith is the CEO of Securus Technology. He was appointed the CEO in 2008.

Securus Technology is a significant and highly recognized prison communication company, based in Texas. Prior to his appointment with Securus Technology, Richard Smith served as President of Eschelon Telecom Inc. Rick was selected to be CEO of Securus Technology, because of his expertise and dedication in his field.

Securus Technology has been a leader in implementing the use of video calls, for inmates to have contact with visitors. This measure has been used increasingly as a replacement, for old-school face-to-face visits. Additionally, this is a technological move which stands to save prisons money, increase safety, and allow for a broader window for inmates to communicate with outsiders. Another technological advancement for prison systems, is Securus’s use of biometric technology. Implementing biometrics will make it easier to identify prisoners, and make management of inmate numbers more effective.

Securus is a for-profit prison company, which serves over 2,000 correctional facilities across the United States and Canada. Under the leadership of Richard Smith, Securus has invested over $600 million dollars into various patents and technologies within just three years. Thanks to the collection and organization of various data by Securus Technology, the criminal justice system is able to better track inmates, see patterns in data to help solve crimes, and better serve the needs of emergency responders and local law enforcement.

Securus Technologies keeps rates low, prevents recidivism

Securus Technologies, the leading inmate communications provider in the United States, has long been at the forefront of crating technologies that helped guards and administrators of the nation’s prisons prevent and fight crime.

One of these innovative tools is the company’s technology known as Location Based Services. This system allows corrections officers to track the location to which all phone calls originating in the prison are being made. Location Based Services can be programmed to automatically notify the on-duty corrections officer whenever a call is placed to a telephone that has been previously flagged as at risk for criminal activity. It can also alert officers when suspicious calls are placed, for example, to geographic areas within the immediate vicinity of the prison itself. Such phone calls have frequently been highly correlated with criminal activities, such as the passing of contraband and escape attempts.

Another incredible feature of the Location Based Services technology is its ability to positively identify all parties taking place on any communications device within the prison. All inmates are introduced into the system, using biometric voice recognition developed by the Department of Defense. This means that whenever an inmate makes a phone call, he will be instantly identified within the system. The same biometric means of identification can also be used to identify any third parties to whom inmates are placing calls, who have been identified as possible criminals or at-risk parties for criminal activity or violation of prison protocols.

In addition to this, the technology is capable of transcribing all communications taking place within the prison. This ultra-accurate transcription service is then parsed in real-time by the system, looking for any anomalous conversations, strange speech patterns or the use of code words that may indicate some type of criminal conspiracy.
